Meeting dates 2007: February 16, March 16, May 18, June 15, August 17,
September 14, October 19, November 16.
Meeting locations:
The region usually has 2 meeting locations- one in the Ballarat vicinity
and the other in Wimmera. Locations are determined at the previous
meeting. There is usually a couple of joint meetings each year.
Strengths
of the regional group:
- Almost
all Principals are VASSP members.
- There
is good attendance at meetings.
- There
is strong mutual support.
Goals of the regional group:
- To
maintain collegiality.
- To
exchange of information and ideas.
- To
provide support for each other.
Specific
issues affecting the region:
- Extreme
difficulty in getting a significant number of applicants for teaching
vacancies in the west, north west sections of the region.
- Continuing
population decline in the smaller towns -schools reducing their viability.
- Low
apparent retention rates.
- Cost
of VET provision - service, time distance.
Non
